Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
Roy I had a wonderful Christmas Lunch at The Millery Clarens, Coffee-Cafe & Bar. Originally our hearts sank when we could not find a venue that was either open or serving a close to traditional Christmas Lunch in Clarens. Then we connected with a message on Face Book which saved our day.
We booked a table for two thanking our lucky stars. Then realising that our guests would have the same problem and might be hugely disappointed that very little would be open, we messaged all offering the limited choices available. I am happy to say they all chose The Millery Clarens and there were only happy content faces to be seen at the end of a delicious banquet.
The tables were simply decorated with fresh conifer leaves, pine cones and colourful baubles, the personal touch was highlighted with hand made edible ginger bread, bread baskets filled with delicious fresh knotted bread rolls courtesy of The Bakery.
Our starter was a delicious melon balls, chunks of feta, lounging on a bed of shredded lettuce, topped with shaved biltong bits and tweaked with a drizzle of balsamic melon reduction…….if I were not so full I’d order another as a bedtime snack as I write this post.
By the time our main course arrived I was so captivated by the yummy flavours of the starter I completely forgot to take any more photos. Needless to say the main course did more justice to our choice of restaurant, consisting of Gammon Slices, Walnut and Plum glaze, Breasts of Chicken with Honey and Parsley Lemon crust, which just melted in our mouths and the veggie accompaniments were also a delight.
For desert Roy chose the Meringue Cherry Trifle with fresh cream and I had the Ice-cream with Bar-one Chocolate sauce, altogether just delicious.
We waddled out with such full tummies it took all of our efforts to get home safely onto the bed to rest and digest after such a “hectic” event!!! Thank goodness we did not have to wash up!!!
Well Done Helga and Staff @TheMilleryClarens Coffee-Cafe & Bar!!
