“Lady Godiva” wakes up Clarens, just before the annual Craft Beer Festival!! Vanessa Faarking Jenkins, acknowledged life and her fight for health in the most unusual way. Vanessa’s body once ravaged by skin cancer and various surgeries is now recovering! So she decided to parade her joie de vivre , by riding a white horse around Clarens square absolutely stark naked!!!
Vanessa reminded me of Lady Godiva, and as the story goes…..
” Lady Godiva was troubled by the crippling taxes Lord Leofric had levied on the citizens of Coventry. After she repeatedly asked him to lessen the burden, Leofric quipped that he would lower taxes only if she rode naked on horseback through the center of town.” (Click here to See full story).

Apparently this parade came as a shock to some, offended the delicate natures of others, created hilarious laughter in some corners (including my own). Whilst I gasped for breath, at her sheer audacious courage to bare all, I chose to take a re-look. It is amazing the shift in internal emotion when one looks at anything from a different perspective! Now, I see a lady who has looked death in the eye and chooses to spend the rest of her time on this beautiful earth, full of appreciation and celebration.
In celebration some drink beer, some drink wine, others tattoo reminders on their body, someone else may give thanks by prayer. So who are we to judge how another celebrates life as long as no harm is done!!
